Have I forgotten something?
If you have any additonal questions, feel free to contact me by phone, 803-508-3600 or

ARE YOU A FUN TEACHER?
I’d describe myself as an enthusiastic, engaging teacher who loves making learning lively and meaningful. I don’t just present facts—I ask questions, encourage spirited discussions, and help students develop strong critical thinking skills.

In my classes, I love weaving in personal experiences, stories, and students’ own interests. This makes the material more relatable and memorable. For example, in an essay class, students might write persuasive pieces on anything from the benefits of video games to why chocolate ice cream is superior. In a computer class, they might create a PowerPoint presentation about their hobbies or family history. This approach not only builds technical skills but keeps students truly engaged in the learning process.

I genuinely enjoy sharing topics I’m passionate about and hearing my students’ perspectives—even when they disagree with me! Teaching young people is something I love deeply, and I’m grateful for the flexibility homeschooling offers. I’m always learning from my students, too. Read more about my homeschool journey here.

OTHER
Is the curriculum you use yours? Is there a copyright? Can I share it with other families?
Yes, I created and wrote the various curricula used in my classes. Most of my materials are copyrighted, so sharing them with others is prohibited.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Works of literature and poetry used in English and literature classes

  • Constitutional Literacy by Michael Farris, used in government classes

  • Various federal documents used in government classes

  • Artwork examples used in art classes

  • Any materials that are in the public domain

Additional materials that I did not create will always be properly credited.

CLASS CREDIT

Do your classes satisfy credit requirements?
Each class description specifies the credits it satisfies (for high school and some eighth-grade students). If you have any questions, I’d be happy to discuss them with you.

Will I receive a syllabus for my student’s class?
Yes! Parents will receive a class syllabus along with a “scope and sequence” outlining the course plan.

Do you provide grades?
Yes. Each class includes a grading breakdown by assignment type—homework, tests, projects, quizzes, depending on the course. Final grades are provided as percentages, and parents can assign the corresponding letter grade. Quarterly progress reports can be provided if requested, with a final grade given at the end of the term.

We have an accountability association. Do you report to them?
No, I do not report directly to accountability associations. However, I am happy to provide any documentation you need for your records.

Do any of your classes have an Honors version?
Yes! Many high school literature, civics, and art classes offer an Honors option.

CLASS FEES
What are your class fees?
Unless noted in the class description, all classes are $25 per 90-minute class. Most courses have an additional one-time $10 copy fee. Class fees may be paid per class, weekly or monthly.

Is everything included in the class fee?
Yes, with a few exceptions:

  • Literature Classes: Unless otherwise stated, students are responsible for purchasing copies of the books we read. Digital and audiobook versions are also acceptable alternatives.

  • Computer and Digital Classes: Students must have their own devices and software. I’m happy to help you select appropriate options if needed.

  • Art and Art History Classes: These may require an additional supply fee depending on the materials needed and what the student already owns.

Can you provide receipts for class payments?
Of course! I can send you a receipt weekly, monthly, or yearly.

PRIVACY
What personal information will I need to provide for my child?
None. Your family’s privacy is very important to me. I only require a parent’s email address and phone number for communication purposes. I will never ask for your child’s contact information without your written permission.

For virtual classes, invitations will be sent to both the student’s and the parent’s email addresses.

I do not connect with current students on social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram. Additionally, I do not share photos of my students on any social media platform or my business website.

Reviews: Reviews featured on my website are from actual clients but will never include the names of students.

CLASS MEETINGS
Do you offer virtual classes?
Yes, classes can be taken virtually through a free and safe platform that doesn't require you to download any software or apps.

Do you offer in-person classes?
Yes! I offer in-home classes for students who live within a reasonable distance of my location. Let’s talk to see if this is an option for you.
Please note - Regardless of where the class takes place, a parent must be present.

Do all classes once weekly?
Yes, and no. Most classes meet weekly. Some high school classes require twice-weekly meetings,

Are classes offered the same day and time each week?
Once a class is scheduled, we typically meet on the same day and time each week. However, I always do my best to accommodate your family’s schedule.

Do you have a set “school term”?
Classes typically run for 30 weeks, from August to June, with a break in December and a short Spring Break. However, since homeschooling families can set their schedules, I am willing to accommodate your schedule.

Can my student begin a class after August?
Yes, I can accommodate your schedule. If a class is labeled as a "High School full-year, one-credit course," I'm willing to arrange for multiple classes per week if needed to help your child complete the course as required.

What if my student misses a class?
I understand that life happens. If your student needs to miss a class, I’ll work with you to reschedule as soon as possible to keep your student on track.

Do you take field trips?
Yes, I love a good field trip! I try to organize trips to places like art museums for art classes and county and city buildings for government classes. Parents are required to attend these trips with their students. Field trips may involve additional fees to cover admission and tickets.

May I “sit in“ in my student’s class?
Of course, you may! I welcome parents!
