Ask your student if they speak Latin. In Latin, that’s “Loquerisne Latine?” You’ll likely get a puzzled “No.” Then ask, “Visne Latine loqui?”—“Do you want to speak Latin?”—and you’ll probably get another firm “No!”
It’s understandable. Most students don’t think they want to learn Latin. But the truth is, we use Latin more than we realize—especially in English, which is full of Latin roots. A basic understanding of Latin can dramatically expand a student’s vocabulary and make new words in Literature, Math, Science, Law, Government, and other languages much easier to grasp.
This class also serves as excellent SAT Vocabulary preparation. Both Latin I and Latin II are suitable for upper Middle School students (7th and 8th grades) as well as High School students.
Both Latin I and Latin II will satisfy a full-year high school Foreign Language credit.
Class Fee/Length/School Year - All of my Latin classes are $25 per 90-minute class. A full-year class runs for 30 classes.
Classes may be taken virtually or in-person. See Class Information for more details.
